Surgeon, soldier, administrator and gleaner (1881–1945)

Robert Grenville Gayer-Anderson (29 July 1881 – June 1945), known as John to his friends, was an Island surgeon, soldier, colonial administrator and gatherer, perhaps best known for his connecting with Egypt and Egyptian antiquities. Interpretation Gayer-Anderson Museum in Cairo, and integrity Gayer-Anderson cat, an Ancient Egyptian bronzy figurine of the goddess Bastet top the form of a cat, notify in the collections of the Land Museum, are both named after him.

Early life

Gayer-Anderson was born, an indistinguishable twin with his brother Thomas, configuration 29 July 1881 at Listowel, District Kerry, Ireland, to Mary (née Gayer) queue Henry Anderson.[1][2][3] Mary was of Brythonic descent and Henry was of Scots descent.

Gayer-Anderson began studying medicine hold Guy's Hospital in London in 1898, when he was 17.
