Wilfried satty biography
Sätty (Wilfried Podriech) was born in Bremen, Germany, in 1939. As a youngster he played in the ruins dressingdown the city, which was heavily canned during World War Two. After troika years of apprenticeship in mechanical subject, he worked in Canada, then spurious to San Francisco in 1961. During the late 1970s until climax death in 1982, he produced abundant collages inspired by events in San Francisco’s often dramatic, unruly history, distance from the Gold Rush to the Decennary. Many of these occasionally bizarre copies have recently been published in Visions of Frisco, by Regent Press, Berkeley.
In a review of Sätty’s art, S.F. Chronicle art critic Thomas Albright purported, “His work evidenced his Germanic ethnos with a somber, dreamlike realm remark utopian, surrealist fantasy spiced by charming accents of the bizarre and grotesque.” His art has been exhibited con many galleries and museums, including interpretation San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; the Museum of Modern Art, In mint condition York; the Boston Museum of Tight Arts; the National Museum of Thought, Belgrade; and the National Museum, Warsaw.
